Students
In British Columbia, all-day programs are Licensed as daycare. Children must be three years old when starting, with the exception of two children per group aged 30 to 35 months (if space is available). Toilet training is a major learning process, and children progress at their own natural pace. For this reason, we do not exclude any child who has yet to completely master personal toileting (and accidents happen). However, children MUST be able to independently manage basic toilet hygiene and pull-ups. Help is always there when needed.
Staff
Teaching staff are certified Montessori instructors, and fully licensed Early Childhood Educators. Staff members are trained in and hold valid Community Childcare First Aid Certificates. All staff are trained and certified in many diverse areas, with valuable years of teaching practice, developmental knowledge and practical parenting wisdom, from personal experience. Teachers are required to upgrade their knowledge on a continual basis. Our program is strengthened through the many individual talents of our staff and our regular volunteer workers. Yoga, nature studies, creative arts and interactive story telling are some of the projects and activities that occur on a regular basis.
All staff, volunteers and practicum students that visit, must pass a Criminal Record Check prior to joining our classroom.
Program
Our All-Day Montessori Program operates for eleven months out of the year, September through July. We close in late December between Christmas and New Years for one week. We are also closed for the entire month of August and all statuatory holidays. This allows teaching staff to have sufficient breaks and enjoy family time during holiday seasons.
There are several options for enrollment in our All-Day Montessori program. Five days a week (Monday to Friday), three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), and two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday). Many parents have flexible working schedules, so one-third of our daily spaces are offered as part-time.
The hours for All-Day are 8am to 5:00pm. Drop off between 8am and 9am. Pick-ups between 4:00pm and 5:00pm.
School Year
Our school year starts in September, the first Tuesday after the Labour Day holiday. All new children to this Facility will begin with a Gradual Entry during the first two weeks. Gradual Entry starts at one hour the first day and builds up every day following. Returning children may attend the entire class the first day.
We offer full day classes only. Half day classes are no longer offered.
